Research Policies & Regulations
All externally sponsored projects are governed by the sponsor regulations as well as Georgetown University’s policies and procedures. For example, in the case of a private sponsor (such as a foundation), the award is simply governed by the foundation’s policies and Georgetown policies.
In the case of the federal government, there can be a myriad of regulations. For example, the National Science Foundation’s awards issued on or after 12/26/14 are governed by NSF regulations, FDP regulations, and the Uniform Guidance. NSF awards issued prior to 12/26/14 that are still ongoing are governed by the OMB Circulars, A-110, A-21, and A-133.
For easy reference, this section has been separated into two components: 1) policies implemented by Georgetown University; and 2) policies implemented by the federal government sponsor.
