GU Press Receives Amicus Poloniae Award

Georgetown University is excited to announce that four members of the Georgetown University Press will receive the Amicus Poloniae Award, presented annually by the Polish Ambassador to the United States.

The Amicus Poloniae Award recognizes significant contributions by individuals not belonging to the Polish American community that enhance knowledge of the Polish and Polish American heritage and that deepen relations between Poland and the United States.

Dr. Richard Brown, Director; Laura Leichum, Digital Publishing and Rights Manager; Deborah Weiner, Editorial and Production Manager; and John Warren, Marketing and Sales Director were deeply involved in the publication of Story of a Secret State: My Report to the World by Jan Karski. All Georgetown University Press staff contributed generously to this effort.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2014, Polish Ambassador Ryszard Schnepf will present the award to these four members of the Georgetown University Press staff at the Embassy of Poland as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Karski’s birth.
