Georgetown innovator reaches final of mask challenge

A new article in Science Magazine showcases ten finalists in the US Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA, Mask Innovation Challenge, including Kai Liu, Professor of Physics.  From the 1,448 entrants, Professor Liu’s group has made it all the way to the final stage, by developing nanoporous metal foams that are extraordinarily efficient filters, ultralightweight, and reusable.  His group will redesign and improve the prototype by the end of the summer, when the grand prize will be awarded.
