Fall 2020 Internal Research Award Outcomes

On the recommendation of the Research Awards Committee, 51 research awards were made this semester, including 6 Annual Research Grants, 20 GU Research Leaves, and 25 Summer Salary Supplements.  In light of the current fiscal constraints confronting the university, the dollar value of research support was necessarily reduced: while the level of support provided under the Summer Salary Supplement (previously known as Summer Academic Awards) was maintained, the number of SSSs awarded was reduced from around 40 each year to just 25 in 2020. 

The Annual Research Grant program replaced the smaller dollar value Fall and Spring Competitive Grants in Aid, and the Non-Competitive Grants in Aid.  Six ARGs were awarded, with an average value of around $9,500 each.

Finally, the number GU Research Leaves (previously Senior Faculty Research Fellowships, but this year open to junior faculty) was maintained at 20 summaries of the awards, including breakdowns by gender, rank, and discipline of the recipient’s home academic unit, can be found here.
